Description: Early this morning you will be transferred to the airport to board your flight back to Kolkata. Kolkata - Bagdogra: 9W-615 - 1015/1120 Hrs. On your arrival in Bagdogra you will be driven to Darjeeling (93kms/3.5 hrs) where on arrival you will be assisted with check in at your hotel. Darjeeling, a picture perfect hill station sits atop a ridge at 2134m. It is replete with Buddhist monasteries, trekking trails and awesome mountain views. The British can be thanked for making it into getaway and is even today one of the most well known Hill stations in the country. The day is free at your leisure.

Description: This early morning you will be taken to Tiger Hill to view the famous Kanchenjunga at sunrise (depending on weather conditions). Visit the monastery there and return to Darjeeling. After breakfast enjoy Joy Ride on World Heritage Toy Train, Darjeeling to Ghoom and back. Afternoon visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute(closed on Thursday) and Zoological Park(closed on Thursday) and Tibetan Refugee Centre (Closed on Sundays).

Description: After breakfast depart on the drive to Gangtok(117kms/4-5hrs). On arrival check in at hotel. Nestling in the lush greenery of the Himalayas is Gangtok (5,800 ft), the small capital city of Sikkim, where Buddhist prayer flags flutter in the mountain breeze, exotic orchids and chirruping birds run riot in a colorful melee. Rest of the day at leisure

Description: After breakfast at the hotel, visit Rumtek, which lies 23 km west of Gangtok. The monastery belongs to the Yellow Hat Karmapa sect, a reformist branch of Tantric Buddhism, founded in the 15th Century. Built in the 1960s, the monastery is traditional in design and is a replica of the original Kagyu headquarters in Tibet, which were destroyed at the time of the Chinese take-over. The monastery houses some of the most unique religious art objects and is the largest one of its kind outside Tibet. Continue with visit of Do Drul Chorten(Stupa) and Namgyal Institute of Tibetology(closed on Sunday) Afternoon visit Enchey monastery(closed on Sunday). This 200-year old monastery was first built as a hermitage by the great Tantric master Lama Druptab Karpa known for his flying powers. Later during the reign of Sidyong Tulku (1909-1910) the present monastery was built in the shape of a Chinese Pagoda. It follows the Nyingma Order and has around 90 monks. The annual festival is celebrated with dances on the 18th and 19th days of the twelfth month of the lunar calendar which normally corresponds to the month of January. Also visit Cottage Industry(closed on Sundays).

Description: After breakfast, depart on the drive to Kalimpong(80kms/3hrs). Kalimpong, a quiet hill resort, was once the former headquarters of the Bhutanese governor. Situated at an altitude of 1250 m. between the Deolo and Durbindra hills it lies in the valley formed by the lower Teesta River and its tributaries in the foothills of the Himalayas. Afternoon spend the day exploring Kalimpong.Visit Tharpa Choling at Tirpai, the largest Yellow Hat sect Buddhist monastery in Kalimpong, which houses a library of Tibetan manuscripts and thangkas. The Zang-dog Palrifo Brang monastery on Durpin Dara Hill is smaller and of more recent construction. You can also spend time at the market selling spices, fruit and traditional Tibetan medicines, textiles, wool and musk. Kalimpong was once the starting point for the trade route to Lhasa.

This permit can be obtained on any one of the following procedures: • At the time of applying for the Indian Visa itself, the clients need to mention that they will visit Sikkim and accordingly a 15 days inner line permit is stamped on the visa. • On arrival in Darjeeling we need to produce the original passport with valid Indian Visa at the District Magistrates office and a 15 days inner line permit can be granted. It takes half day. • While entering Sikkim the permits can be issued on the spot at Rongpoo Check Post (while going to Gangtok) . It takes 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on group size. A serial numbered form at the check post needs to be filled and submitted along with photocopies of passport and Indian visa and 02 passport size snaps. The following can be granted Inner Line permits to visit Sikkim ONLY by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi or the Indian High Commissions abroad. • Foreigners travelling with Diplomat Passports/Official Passport like Red Cross etc. • Citizens from Bangladesh, Republic of China, Peoples Republic of China, Pakistan, Myanmar, Taiwan, Nigeria.
